So...how exactly do I get my SIM card activated?

I left AT&T recently because they refuse to support my phone, but unfortunately no other provider gets service where I live so I finally broke down and bought a new phone and I have been trying to re-activate my AT&T service.  I went through the steps of selecting my plan and verifying that my new phone is compatible and AT&T sent me a new SIM card.  I tried activating that through the "Get Started" page they referred me to but it just took me through the same process.  After a few days, I finally managed to find time to call Customer Support and explained the situation.  I went through the whole process with a guy over the phone and he said they would send me a new SIM card.  I said that I already had the SIM but they apparently still had to send another one for some reason.

So I've got the new-new SIM card and I still can't activate it online.  When I try to do so, AT&T tells me to select a plan and enter my IMEI number and then takes me to a checkout page so I can order another new SIM card.  I'm growing a rather lovely SIM card collection but I would really rather have the ability to make phone calls again.  I most likely won't be able to call Customer Support again until next week, so it would be great if I could just do this online and get it over with.  Is this at all possible?  T-Mobile (Edited per community guidelines) but their whole process took just a few clicks and I was all set.

Welcome back! We are happy to hear that you have rejoined the AT&T family. We are here to help you with activating your service, @ZombieToast.

We understand how important it is to stay connected! To activate your service, start by selecting the service you would like to activate, enter you SIM/ICCID number and the IMEI number and follow the prompts. You should be able to enter your SIM number before the process that way it does not ask you to purchase a new SIM.

If you are unable to bypass the purchasing new SIM step, then we do recommend visiting your local AT&T Store, so they can further assist you with your activation.

Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums. We hope this information helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach back out.
