shared upgrade through the next program

If I use my wife's upgrade with att next and I'm not eligible do I have to pay off my current next upgrade or does the new one take the place of my old one?

next doesn't work like the old 2 year contract plan. With the Next program you are out of contract after 2 months. You are still required to pay on the phone.

But that doesn't answer your question.
You have to finish paying for the phone, at least until the trade in date. If you pay it off in full tomorrow, it is yours and you can do what you like with it. Sell it, trade it in, what ever. Then you can put another phone on your service if you like.
Just like if you buy a car with a car loan. You have to pay off the old car and make a new loan for a new car.

I hope that explains it well enough.
