Separating from Family Plan

Hi, I want to switch from my family plan to my own separate plan on AT&T and pay for it myself and would like to keep my number. Do I need to go in store for this? Or what is the process?

Hello @ath3naann

Independence is a great adventure!

In order to keep your number you will need to complete a Transfer of Billing Responsibility from your parents account and this will require a credit check.

This can be completed in store or online. Due to COVID our specialized department is closed currently so if you do start the process online and run into any errors then you can go into your closest open store.

Let us know how it goes and stay safe!

Here are more details @ath3naann

A Transfer of Billing Responsibility changes the account ownership from one person to another. With the transfer, the new owner assumes responsibility for the account, monthly bill, and contract.

You can also set up an in store appointment if need be to complete the process!

Thank you!
