Says The SSN that you provided doesn’t match when trying to buy the iphone

I'm trying to purchase the iphone 12 from the apple website but when I select Att and provide my phone number and the last 4 digits of the account holders ssn it says The SSN that you provided doesn’t match I just want to buy an unlocked and fully paid phone from apple.

Something sounds fishy. Do you have a cellular account with AT&T? If you do, then they already have your ssn info and purchasing an iPhone from Apple should be very easy. We've always had AT&T as our cellular carrier and always purchased our iPhones directly from Apple. No problems at all.

Sounds like your phone number is not the same phone number that is associated with whomever's ssn you are using.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried all the combinations, my phone number + my ssn, my phone number + account holders ssn, account holders phone number + account holders ssn but seem to get the same response for all of them

Turns out the account owner had somehow bought the plan without giving their ssn. Got that resolved. Thanks!

P.S it shows that I'll be charged the 30$ discount for selecting at&t in my at&t bill anyways so this was kind of a waste. I'll probably just pay the extra 30$ to apple and select unlocked

@archit017 What do you enter in the SSN field if the Account Owner bought the plan without their SSN?

@ShawnKat  The poster you are trying to ask last posted here 3 years ago.  I very much doubt they are going to answer.  If you still have a question, please start a new post.
