Prepaid Nightmare
I am trying to activate the prepaid SIM card I ordered. I am bringing my own device (it is new) and porting my phone number from my former provider.
According to the Number Transfer/Port Status page, my port status is confirmed.
According to the AT&T Prepaid Activation Portal, "GA309 : Oops, we hit a snag. Come back later and try again."
Various numbers and webpages which I've frankly forgotten because this is a huge headache and the labyrinthine pages of unclear nature stretch into endless infinity have suggested that the SIM is already activated.
I have tried the main helpline, as well as 888.898.7685, which supposedly specifically assists with porting numbers. Neither will recognize my cell number (the one marked confirmed) as an AT&T number. It is impossible to speak to a real person.
I cannot make calls from the phone.
I am loath to go to the AT&T store, particularly because the one nearest me (quelle suprise!) doesn't allow me to make an appointment in advance. Looking forward to clarity on this issue.

I am having this same problem. Except I get people on the phone - at this point 5 or 6 different ones that all tell me the same thing. To try to use the website to activate now that my port number was in approved status and the website just tells me "Oops, we hit a snag. Come back later and try again." Then when I talk with customer service they just tell me to keep trying. Which is not a solution by any stretch of the imagination. It has taken, so far, over 5 phone calls to just try to port in a phone number. This is the worst port experience I have ever experienced with ANY carrier before and I have switched at least 4 times in the last 15 years.

Hello kmcrlyn, let's get you pointed in the right direction for support with porting your number.
Please reach out to our Port Activation Center (866-895-1097) for support with bringing your number to AT&T. Representatives are available 7am - 1am (ET) - 7 days a week.
Also can you start a new thread, as this is a very old thread that can be closed at any time.
Feel free to reach back out if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thank you for visiting AT&T Community Forums!

I've already talked to them. They ported my number. But the reps somehow deactivated my temp pray number that this one was supposed to port into and now they can't access the account at all because they can't send me a pin to verify my account. And they say they can't even access the account. And I must now go into a store to finish it due to their mistake. The activation center days that because they cancelled the line I was porting to my plan doesn't show up as being paid and they have to add a plan back in the other department that says they can't review the account because they can't send me a pin. Worst experience just keeps getting worse. And I'm travelling AND am in Puerto Rico where you havw no stores. So now I've paid for a plan twice two days ago and can't even access one. Truly the worst customer service experience I've ever had.

At&t may not be able to activate outside domestic coverage. You should have switched while still in USA.
