Premier discount from non-primary account holder?

Question

I am on a shared plan (30GB) with 3 other people. I am not the primary account holder, my best friend is. I just found out that I am eligible for a 17% discount on our plan only because I am a teacher. Can I apply for that discount to be applied on our plan even though I am not the primary account holder?

My brother has a similar setup in that he has multiple people on his plan and they enjoy a 17% discount from one of the people on teh plan who is not a primary account holder...

As far as I am aware you have to be the account holder as there is no other way to verify the identity of the individual who should be receiving the discount aside from who's name it's in. I had to do a transfer of billing responsibility for all lines into my name to recieve my discount.

Actually I was able to add the discount to the account. I just registered on the premier site with my work email and the primary account holder's phone number. Then it had me verify the last four digits of the primary account holder's ss number and I think the billing ZIP Code. After that it added it no problem
