Over a month later, AT&T now says they can’t find phones

Traded in phones. Sent them back end of September. Starting receiving emails mid October that the phones were not received and they were charging us. Was told by two different AT&T reps, one on chat and one on phone, the phones were located and wrote IN NOTES on my account to take charges off account if said charges showed up on bill. Well the charges showed up, we called, and 1.5 hour convo later, we were basically told they don’t believe the employees who said the phones were located. We are being charged over $1300. Any advice or suggestions?? We thought this was over since it’s November and no longer have the tracking receipt. I’ve been with AT&T over 11 years and have never had billing issues.
