Mobile Hotspot usage

I am using my phone as a mobile hotspot and when I use it to stream videos from services like Netflix and Prime Video, the data used is taken from my mobile plan before it is taken from the additional 10 GBs AT&T is providing due to Covid-19. Is this normal?? I was under the assumption that my Promotional Data would be used before my regular data plan.

Thank you for reaching out. Allow us to take a closer look into your bonus data inquiry.


The bonus data you got for the COVID-19 relief is classified in the rollover data category as opposed to promotional data which you get as a monthly recurring data add-on for other reasons. Therefore, if you check how rollover data is used, you will see that your normally allocated data goes first, before your COVID-19 bonus data.
