Mobile hotspot data goes against main mobile data plan

We have an unlimited plan with each line having an additional 15gb of mobile hotspot data. After turning on mobile hotpspot on the phone, connecting a device to the mobile hotspot the data is logged against the mobile data plan and not the 15gb mobile hotspot data.

ATT Customer service said the solution was to turn off mobile data and turn on the hotspot, but that turns off the cellular data connection and the hotspot data does not connect.

Hoping someone knows the solution?

whoever explain to you that the hotspot data is in addition to the base plan was incorrect. If you have unlimited extra, your premium data INCLUDES 15 gigs of hotspot data. It’s not ‘in addition to’

If your hotspot data is not being counted against your 15 gigs of hotspot data, that theoretically means you could exceed 15 GB. Another words this benefits you.

15 GB in addition to what? Unlimited + 15 would still be unlimited.

When you are logged in to the ATT app, click on the “my wireless usage” and then click, ”See all my usage”. Your hotspot data usage will be in there but be aware that all hotspot data does count towards a plan’s overall gigabytes if limited and count towards reaching the unlimited plan’s throttle down limit.

At&t does not throttle the phone data. Only hotspot data is throttled once used up.

Just saying that hotspot data use counts towards your overall data use. It is not a seperate and additional amount of data from your plan’s limits.

That is what is confusing. When checking data usage AT&T reports 0.00 of 15gb mobile hotspot data used but shows the overall data increasing. Why do they market it as additional data but do not report it. We live in a rural area and need to keep tabs on our data usage.

It's a glitch, or a gift because of covid-19. Either way I wouldn't worry about it it's to your benefit
