Is this message from 11113000 real?

I want to know if this mesage is from AT&T, or if it is a spam message.

Hello @CheckLegit

You can always call AT&T's main customer care number or stop by the store to make sure you're talking to the right people. The main number is 1-800-331-0500 or 611 from your cell phone.

Thank you,

Dmitriy

Hi,

I received the same text message from the 11113000 number which claimed to be from AT&T. I called their 866-xxx-xxxx number and the person on the phone said that AT&T is upgrading their wireless services to 3G [or 4G whatever] in my area [Houston TX] and my current cell phone won't work [I am not sure but mine is old phone not smartphone or iphone, so she seems to know some facts]. She said they could send the new replacement phone for free to my mailing address. Then she asked me for the account name and the last 4 digits of the social security number of the wireless account holder. I was hesitant to give the info and so handed up politely.

The deadline to get the free replacement phone is Nov 30th.

Can someone tell me if this is Really legit? Appreciate.

Thank you.

Thanks Dmitriy for your reply. I called the customer care number and they verified that the text message was legitimate. Great!

Great, my message does say AT&T Free Msg:, therefore it was sent from a short code computer from AT&T, correct?
