I want to get off my AT&T family plan and start a new line!

I want to get off of our family plan, but the primary account holder and I are not in contact. LIKE AT ALL. How do I get off and get my own line? Also will I be able to keep the same phone, and start the new line?

If you want to keep your number, then you need the cooperation of the account holder.  If you don't care about your number, you can just start a new line of service.  However, I don't think that AT&T will activate that same IMEI on a second account so you need to contact the account holder to terminate service on the line so the phone will be free to activate on a new account.

This is assuming that the phone doesn't have an installment payment agreement on it.
