HELP 21 YEAR OLD PHONE NUMBER PORTED OUT NOW INACTIVE/LOST

Can someone please help me. I have had my phone number for 21 years. Last month I attempted  to switch carriers from Straight Talk to ATT/FIRSTNET service for first responders as I am a nurse, so ATT requested my number be ported out to them. ATT then informed me that they placed the request but were unable to port my number, so they closed the request and I just stayed with Straight Talk. A few weeks later my service is disconnected. I called straight talk and they said they ported out my number and terminated my service due to ATT's request. WHen I called ATT they said they closed the request because they were unable to port my number. They said my number is now disconnected and they are unable to get it back. I have been on the phone for at least a week non-stop with everyone from both ATT and Straight talk and they have been unable to connect my phone.  My phone number is "owned" by Tracphone...which is owned by ATT?  I am in tears can someone please help.

Did you ask Straight Talk if they can port your number back and reopen your account?

I'm curious what AT&T means by "closed the request." Did they actually cancel your order? If not, it's possible the request really wasn't "closed" and AT&T kept trying to complete it. Do you have the original order number from AT&T? Did AT&T send you a SIM card?

You need to escalate this to corporate. File an FCC complaint.

AT&T never sent me a SIM card and cancelled the order. I don't have the original order number, unfortunately permanently deleted from my mailbox. Do you know why they are unable to reactivate my phone number?

No clue. I agree that a FCC complaint is your best bet. That will get you escalated and someone from AT&T corporate will contact you within a day or two.

I have spent so many hours on the phone with AT&T, they said they closed the request because they were not able to receive the number.( I have the ticket number for the port-out request. ) Straight talk says they ported out my number when they received the request, and closed my account. I have been on conference calls with both and they just go back and forth and blame each other.

At this point I really do not feel like I m getting the run around from either company, it has been just too many phone calls Ive placed, and someone would have turned my service back on by now with my same phone number. I just can not believe that something this simple is impossible. Does anyone have any advice? or another approach I can take to have my number back? I am afraid it will be assigned to someone else it's been almost one week now.

You were already given your best course of action by two people. File an FCC complaint. Your problem is getting the right technical people involved that can fix this. The FCC complaint will get you a response from someone at corporate and they will either get the right technical people involved or explain why they can’t get your number back.
