HBO MAX For Life - and new phone plans
Hi There,
I have been receiving emails about my phone plan going up by 6 bucks and coercing me to change plans to one of the newer unlimited ones ( I already have unlimited but I also have HBO for life). The new plans do not offer HBO for life - so why would I want to change my old unlimited choice plan? If someone could explain to me the benefits of the starter or premium plans, I'd love to hear it but I'm not seeing much that makes a difference to make me change and lose HBO.
Many thanks, Rona

The benefits may or may not be anything you can use. The new plans offer more hotspot data, more free roaming in Latin America and no threshold for slowing your data. The cost might be less or might not. I’ve got a grandfathered plan too, my bill went up $12 but it’s still better than any current plan for me. Switching to a current plan doesn’t make any sense for me.

Thank you - that's my feeling too - I was trying to figure out why should I change, and you just answered what I was thinking. I shouldn't! :)
Also, your plan went up twice as much because you probably have two phones? I've only one so that's why mine was 6.

Actually, I have 3 lines but yes, I figured my price increase was greater because of multiple lines.

Hello @Rebelrona, we're happy to help with information on Unlimited plans.
Thank you @sandblaster for that helpful information. That is correct, the best cell phone plan will depend on your specific needs.
Customers who love streaming and want the best performance possible should consider AT&T Unlimited Premium. If you're looking for the best overall value for your plan, you might want to consider AT&T Unlimited Extra. With Unlimited Starter, Extra and Premium plans, you can text from the U.S. to over 200 countries.
Currently, the HBO for life offer has retired and is no longer available for new AT&T customers, If you are on a retired plan there is the option to keep your current plan along with your plan features such as HBO Max.
Sign in to myAT&T online or use the app to compare your plan to others we offer. See something you like?
We're here if you have any questions. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

It depends on how much you save by switching. A newer plan might have been cheaper even before the increase.
If you save $17 a month by switching, you can pay for HBO Max and be ahead of the game. If you'd switched in early June, HBO Max was still included.
It's hard to tell you the benefits compared to what you have, as we don't know what plan you have.

@Gary L Yes, we do. Read the OP’s initial post again, they said: “so why would I want to change my old unlimited choice plan?”

right,
EDIT: I found out that ATT terminated HBO Max service to all current plans.

@mizdmitry Not quite right. ATT no includes HBO Max on any current plan. Anyone with a grandfathered plan that had HBO Max still gets it.
