Frustrated
I had to call 3 different numbers to try and get my phone switched from AT&T to a new carrier. I just need my account # and port out pin. I had to listen to the automated message all three times saying "We're sorry, but our office is currently closed. Please call back during our regular business hours from 7am-9pm Monday through Friday and 8am-9pm Saturday...it's 9am on Saturday right now!

If you are postpaid, your account number is on your bill. And only postpaid gets a port pin via *port.
In other words if you are postpaid you are wasting your time for no reason
Only prepaid customers have to call in to get their account number, prepaid does not use a port pin they use their security PIN code. If you do not remember your prepaid security pin code you have to reset it

Thanks, but I don't have a paper copy of my bill and can't access my account online. AKA my life is a hot mess right now. I'm not prepaid.

Why do you not have access to your online account?
No one expects you to have a paper bill, I haven't had a paper bill for cell phone service in 10 years. Most service providers prefer us to be paperless.
I access my bill online, and the account number is in the top right corner.

I don't have access to it online because my estranged husband owns the account and I'm not allowed to contact him and vice versa.

That’s a problem if your husband has the account. If it’s his account, you aren’t going to get the information needed to port your number out. AT&T isn’t going to bend the rules or change their processes because of what you and your husband have going on.

Thanks. Problem solved. I had to call local AT&T store and then 611 to get the account number to remove my phone from the account. I wasn't asking anyone to "bend the rules" I simply needed to know where to call to get the account number to remove myself from the plan...it's 611.
