Fraud: Two iphone X bought under account

One of my friends saw today that someone has fraudulently bought TWO iphone X 256 gigs under her name on at&t. She had to pay the first installments and now at&t storepeople are asking her to get in touch with fraud dept. I am also worried about my own account security after this (apparently she had passcode check ON and still this happened..) is there anything I can do to help her and also ensure my own account is not affected in this way? Is it possible that her identity is stolen or is it just at&t lax policy while letting people buy devices?

I understand the worry.

1.  Your related email needs to have 2 step authorization on it.  That’s how they get in.

2.  Change your password

3.  Add or change your passcode.  I think it can be up to 8 digits.

Thank you for the reply. So does this mean that her email account linked to at&t is compromised?

Very likely.   A recent article from Google said only 10% of users have 2 step authorization on their accounts.  Once a hacker gets in to email, he can see your account notices and it includes your account number.  All he has to do is hack in and request new passcode and order phones.

I have 2 step on everything.  Facebook, email, PayPal, etc.
