EMERGENCY: Account under wrong name

My girlfriend opened an account for us in 2017- it was supposed to be under her name until we broke up, and then we went into AT&T to have the account put under my social security number and name. The problem is, the guy didn't even change it and there is no record of change even! Now the account is in collections because I didn't even know it wasn't taken care of, and she is getting calls about it but it isn't her account. It is mine and the name and social need to be changed to me as I will be glad to pay it off. She lives very far away now and had to give me a very angry phone call about this. I need this changed right away and I will happily work with you guys to pay it off. This is ridiculous that the guy didn't even log our visit or anything and we shouldn't have to go through this.

I'm not sure what the guy in the store did, but he didn't have the ability to transfer the account to begin with; that is only done online. 

 

I'm a bit confused as to why you aren't paying it, since presumably that's your phone service. Regardless, if it's in collections you can't transfer the service. She can give you the information needed so you can pay or you can send her the money so she can pay directly.
