DOOR TO DOOR Sales SCAM?

In late November a young woman and man came to my house saying they were ATT reps canvassing the neighborhood.  The young woman did the speaking and commiserated with me on how bad the ATT customer service was.  She let me know that she would be my customer service rep and that I would have the same number her kids had. . . sounded good to me as ATT was offering a BOGO on 8+ and 8 iPhones with activation of a new line.  I was told that we would have unlimited everything service for $75 a month for each.  We don't use that much data, but she said that was the only way that the new plans were available.  Ordered two phones on the pogo.  One arrived as "advertised" within 4 days and was activated. The other after about a week was delayed by a month.  I was very upset and spent HOURS on the phone with customer service who couldn't help.  If I cancelled that phone (it was red) and got a different one, it would cancel the BOGO.  I didn't care what color the dang phone was. . . So, I ended up waiting.  After over a month when the phone should have finally arrived, I got an e-mail cancelling the order.  I could not get anyone to let me know what was going on and received a bill for both lines, financing for both phones, taxes for both phones.  I was about to have a $722 bill in January.  I tried to get some assistance, but no one seemed to be able to help.  I called and texted my local "customer service rep", but never heard from her again.  My boyfriend, a retired attorney, got on the phone last week with ATT and informed me that a phone was on the way, they would honor the logo and the rate for the service for the two phones.  He was informed that the phone should arrive by Saturday.  We figured with the weekend and a holiday that it was delayed.  Today, I called and spent over an hour with customer service who informed me that no phone was on the way and that the notes showed that he was simply given information and that he indicated that he understood the information.  They also indicated that a supervisor would call me back. . . that was over 2 hours ago.  I suspect they will not call.

I am hearing that the door to door people are NOT ATT employees, but they are acting on ATT's behalf.

I have been scammed, lied to, and am clear that  ATT is willing to simply let me spend HOURS (over 12) on hold and trying to discuss these issues with their "customer service" team.  I want to cancel it all, but now they say that my boyfriend has had his phone too long to be able to cancel the entire deal.   I will be contacting the BBB & also the attorney general in my state to see if there is ANY protection from this.  I am also an ATT stockholder (my aunt worked for them for MANY years retiring in the 80s. . . she died many years ago, but would be appalled).  While Verizon is expensive, I have never had them lie to me, make false promises, or keep me on hold forever, all of which AT&T has done.  I have ATT home phone, Uverse and internet. . . I will find a way to transfer to something else.  This has been a TOTAL nightmare. . .

Same thing happened to me, this woman & man came to my house, who identified themselves as AT & T employees. They said they was just there to see how the technician was doing installing my Direct TV services that same day. Thought that was a little odd. Direct TV & AT&T are the same company. The technician who was installing my service for 3 TV seemed to know these people. This person who identified himself as a AT&T person, gave me a card with his name on it. I won't mention his name but he comes from the state of NH. On the card it had AT&T Mobility In Home Expert., with his name, phone number, email address with the address of the business, He introduced the women he was with as his boss. He asked me who I had for my cell phone service I said Verizon. He told me he can get me a free upgrade from my phone and with a cheaper plan with AT&T. He said he just happened to have a upgrade phone in his car. Now both this person and his women accomplish was handling my phone which is Iphone 6s., He comes back into my house with a phone that looked exactly like mine. I asked him isn't the newer Iphone's bigger than this one. He said no this is a upgrade from your phone. So I agreed to the phone that was suppose to be a upgrade. His women friend went outside and was out there for quite sometime. He transferred all my information from my phone over to his phone that was suppose to be a upgraded phone. After he left I saw that the box on the phone that he gave me was dirty. I also looked at the storage space in the phone it only had 32GB with half of it already used.. This phone was exactly same phone that I already had which I just gone paying off with 128GB. Which I only used 1/4 of the space on my phone. I went to apples website, typed in the numbers of my phone which it said it was a Iphone 6s, then typed in the numbers of the phone that he gave me was Iphone 6s. So here is this person that is suppose to work for AT&T giving me a phone that was not a upgrade but also a phone that had less storage in it. I immediately called AT&T that night and also 3 times the following morning. I told them I think I was just scammed by one of your salespeople. One of the customer service people told me that they are 3rd party salespeople that do work for them. I asked her is it normal procedure to send someone from AT&T to check on a technician that is installing service from Direct TV. I told normally they don't. I asked her is it normal procedure when these AT&T salespersons come to your home that they do solicitation of AT&T services and for the purpose of selling Phones. She said no. I told her I felt scammed,.I gave her the name of this salesperson and she gave me a case # and was told she would speak to her supervisor. I also asked how much will my phone bill be with going with AT&T for this phone for 2GB of data. I was $92.00, I told her your salesperson told me it would $54.00. I called MR.--------In Home Expert and told him you are trying to give a phone that is the same phone that I already with less GB on it. I told him I wanted to take the phone back to a AT&T store that morning, He told me don't do that I would be charged a return fee. He said he would pick it up that next day. When he showed up here at my house, I made sure he put something in my email that this was a free phone and that it had a 0 balance on the bill. I asked him if he was a 3rd party salesperson for AT&T, he said no, he is a executive. Well as a executive you should know that the phone you are trying to pass off as a upgrade from my phone was nothing but a bunch of bull crap. You knew that the one that you were giving me which was Iphone 6s was the same phone that I already had. But trying pass it off to me with less storage. Both the salesman and his so called women boss knew what my Iphone was since they were both handling it. I saw this sales man on you tube and saw that he sells phones for AT&T. AT 66 yeas of age I felt scammed. 2 weeks later I get a bill from AT&T for $473.10 for a phone I did not have and was picked up from my home by their salesperson. The only thing this salesperson was to be deceitful, lying about a upgrade and a phone being free and telling you how you can save money for your cell phone service by going with AT&T. If you are going to make a complaint against AT&T for their

illegal practices, don't go to the Better Business Bureau, make a complaint with your Attorney General's office in your state.
