Do I have to buy a new plan or keep my current one?

My phone is having problems so I’m going to buy another one and I was wondering whether or not I could keep my current plan for the new phone or buy another one

Hi @Ecirquad24, we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about getting a new phone.

If you're just upgrading your current device, then you won't have to make any changes to your plan. This even applies if you have a grandfathered plan. You can see more information about this on our upgrade eligibility page, along with the steps on how to upgrade your device itself.

Whenever you upgrade a device, any remaining installment payments must be paid alongside the upgrade and there'll be a one-time upgrade fee up to $45 on your next bill.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Dylan, AT&T Community Specialist
