Data overage

Anyone else disgusted by the messages from ATT about adding to our bill for data usage during the weekend storms in S LA. We have no service for couple of days and then off and on for couple more. No way to stay up to date with flooding, roads, family, etc..without using your phone. Wifi was down everywhere so everyone trying to use the data to get information. I had to use my friends Verizon phone which never lost signal to speak to family and work. We get messages that we are going over data limit and ATT is charging us more money. While my Verizon friends are getting messages from Verizon that they are giving them free data to help out during this time. Maybe we all should look into Verizon for Customer Service and understanding.

@btd0613,

AT&T will be offering credits to our customers in certain parishes impacted by service disruption and waiving data overage charges for customers in parishes declared a state of emergency.

Additional detail on the credits and waived data overage charges can be found at: www.att.com/laflood and http://about.att.com/newsroom/network_disaster_recovery_louisiana.html

Just went thru devastating flooding, evacuation and trying to help friends and family in Ascension Parish Louisiana. During this time frame our AT&T service was sketchy at best. Still trying to coordinate delivery of supplies from out of state and to save all helpful information I can find via social media about clean up efforts, as well as trying to be in touch with any who need help. I cannot be within wifi range today. My data starts over tomorrow. Just got an overage charge notice. Do you guys think you could have some consideration of this situation and the fact that our service was down for a good portion of this time & wave that fee?? Call 611 and complain. The system is automated, they won't know till you tell them.

I am sick by the treatment I have got from at&t. They told me that my area was NOT one affected by the Louisiana floods. My physical address is different then my mailing address. They actually hung up on me when I asked for a simple thing. I asked them to look at my parish and my physical address and they would NOT nor would they give a single bit of help. I have never been treated so badly. We will be going to verizon as soon as we are able to because of the help they have offered. At&t should be ashamed for treating people the way they do. My family also will be switching carriers and as many people as we can talk to will be told of this treatment....

@Louisiana_Gator Why would you encourage a friend to go to AT&T, if AT&T

"ALWAYS go down during Louisiana emergencies while other wireless suppliers do not"?

Then after doing that, come here and complain (for them) that it went down during a Louisiana emergency?

Because of how we were treated, I doubt anything will change. We simply asked for a way to contact family and we feel like you don't care. We lost all but our tablet and have no Internet therefor no contact. I have infant grandsons who are I'm the rubble left in Prairieville, LA and I can not check on them unless we use someone's phone. Many parishes have been affected by this and most have not even been helped by anyone except strangers who we have come to love and pull us out of the deviation. We have to replace so much and have been left will bills to pay and no way to pay them because our jobs were also affected. Avoyelles parish is one affected by this storm and Obama declared it as part of the federal disaster areas , but we have been overlooked.

@btd0613

[Please keep it courteous - Thank you]

You act like someone at AT&T said "hey, let's bill these people during their crisis", the computer billed you just like it normally does, it doesn't compare the flooding reports to the data overages.

If you call, please be nice, the person on the other end of the phone that you want to help you did nothing to you and you want a favor from them...
