Credit inquiry for existing customer for Apple Watch?

I’ve searched and can’t find an answer I apologize If this has been addressed before. I’m an existing AT&T customer, and I’m thinking of getting the Apple Watch series 3 through their payment plan. My concern is that they mention “well qualified credit” my credit isn’t a problem, but I do not want an inquiry showing up on my credit report. I’ve asked a couple online CSRs in the chat function and got 3 different answers. I’ve been told that since I am a current customer there is no credit check, and I’ve been told that adding the Watch is like adding a line, and there will be a hard credit check. I was ALSO told that AT&T has their own internal process, and I won’t see a credit inquiry on my report. It’s exhausting. I may be better off to just buy one outright, which is what I’ve done with the last 2 Apple watches. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this? Thanks!
