better call spam tools

Hey AT&T.  Thank you for the call protect app.  It does help somewhat, but I have another idea that I would like for you to share with the developers.

Can you please also include in call protect a reverse caller id lookup feature to block spoofed calls?  So, I get a call and it gets through truecaller and AT&T call protect and rings my phone.  Except, the number I block is not the number that is calling.

When i try to call back that number, a completely different number shows up in my call list and what I hear is usually some automated recording.

How about, AT&T implement protections for its customers, that if anyone has a need to spoof the caller ID and send information that is different from the actual phone number calling, it is just blocked period before it even hits my phone?  I mean, legitimate businesses don't hide their true phone number if it is legitimate, right?

How about it!?!?!

@dstrough  I think it's part of what ATT is working on.  But it's not cut and dried.  They have to figure out when a number is spoofed.  So far they have not figured out how to see when a number is really coming from a computer, not an actual phone.

Keep in mind that text and calls come from computers and legit sources all the time.  Short code notifications are Text from a computer and I get several, including messages from ATT, my bank, pharmacy, etc.

It seems that call protect and an app called DU Caller both can recognize known sales callers and block them.  DU Caller works with customer input.  If many users report a number as spam, it pops up as suspected spam.
