AT&T phone sales reps lied to me and gave me a "free" phone I'm now stuck paying for 2 years!!

Back in June, i opened a new line to my existing account over the phone with ATT. While opening the line(which i had an iphone for) they offered me a free LG G8. I jumped on the offer and asked how it would be free. I was told that after the 3rd billing cycle, i would receive credits starting on the 4th month. I agree and get sent the phone. After the 4th month i started calling ATT because i wasnt seeing any credits for the new line. Every time i called, someone was able to verify the "free" phone deal and i was told it would be taken care of the following month. The next month, the same thing. I chatted with an agent online (which i have a transcript for) that also verified and was told there wold be a case opened. Never heard back. I call a few weeks ago to re-verify, and they do. so they open a case. i was told i would receive credits on a certain date. The day passes and no credits. Apparently it went up the chain and they denied it stating there was no such deal. 

So now, im stuck with a phone, because its past the return period, that i didnt have to have in the first place. They will not take the phone back or refund me. I just have to pay for the next 2 years. Nobody at ATT is held responsible for selling me a free phone? No one is held accountable for telling me i had a valid "free phone deal" mulitple times. WHAT A JOKE! I've been a long time ATT customer and have 5 lines i gladly pay for, even the phones. BUT when it comes down to the agents(multiple) telling me a have a valid free phone deal and then get stuck with the payments for 2 years, someone needs to be held accountable and ATT needs to step up. I'm sure they have recordings of all the calls ive made. OWN UP ATT

Chasidy, I've already chatted 3 times with agent . All 3 times it's taken about 1.5 hours and I'm always told I will get a case opened and it will get resolved. 

What will get resolved? ATT will take the phone back and refund me? Employees will be held accountable for what I was told/sold? Its unbelievable that agents can say whatever they want to get a sale, and in the end, the customer is the one that gets screwed. Doesn't ATT keep records of all calls made??

If you have had issues with At&t, unexplained fees, collection notices, anything with billing. Beware AT&T runs a fradulent correspondence comapny located in India largely known their call centers.

Make sure that you have read their fine print, as a large portion is decieving and misleading to the consumer.

AT&T employees are uneducated and possibly mislead by higher corporate authorities with false information to give out to the consumer.

BEWARE:

REPORT TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, FOLLING A DEMAND FOR ARBITRATION.

AT&T WILL BE FOUND RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL YOUR COURT FEES AND LEGAL PROCEEDINGS.

We had a rep Brad R who lied to us too and now he doesnt work there. He literally came to my house to sell me on it when i was getting directv hooked up

the door to door reps are not at&t employees. They are 3rd party salespeople same as the reps at costco. Walmart is also 3rd party.

before the forum update i was able to get an agent to help me with this case. I had private messages that he would send me after phone calls. BUT after the update, my private messages have been deleted and i dont have his contact information anymore. just the number he would call me from, (Phone number hidden) and i dont have his extension. his name was Ramses. APARENTLY AFTER UPDATING THEY DONT NEED TO KEEP THEIR WORD, AGAIN! I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CHARGE THE REMAINING BALANCE OWED ON THE PHONE IN DECEMBERS BILL AND THEN ALSO CREDIT THAT AMOUNT. IT GOT THROUGH TO HIS SUPERVISOR AND THEN THE UPDATE HAPPENED. HOW CONVENIENT!

AT&T IS BECOMING A JOKE. TOLD ONE THING AND THEN NEVER ACTED UPON. SCAMMERS!
