AT&T phone sales reps lied to me and gave me a "free" phone I'm now stuck paying for 2 years!!
Back in June, i opened a new line to my existing account over the phone with ATT. While opening the line(which i had an iphone for) they offered me a free LG G8. I jumped on the offer and asked how it would be free. I was told that after the 3rd billing cycle, i would receive credits starting on the 4th month. I agree and get sent the phone. After the 4th month i started calling ATT because i wasnt seeing any credits for the new line. Every time i called, someone was able to verify the "free" phone deal and i was told it would be taken care of the following month. The next month, the same thing. I chatted with an agent online (which i have a transcript for) that also verified and was told there wold be a case opened. Never heard back. I call a few weeks ago to re-verify, and they do. so they open a case. i was told i would receive credits on a certain date. The day passes and no credits. Apparently it went up the chain and they denied it stating there was no such deal.
So now, im stuck with a phone, because its past the return period, that i didnt have to have in the first place. They will not take the phone back or refund me. I just have to pay for the next 2 years. Nobody at ATT is held responsible for selling me a free phone? No one is held accountable for telling me i had a valid "free phone deal" mulitple times. WHAT A JOKE! I've been a long time ATT customer and have 5 lines i gladly pay for, even the phones. BUT when it comes down to the agents(multiple) telling me a have a valid free phone deal and then get stuck with the payments for 2 years, someone needs to be held accountable and ATT needs to step up. I'm sure they have recordings of all the calls ive made. OWN UP ATT
