AT&T not letting me port my number

I have been trying to port my number from AT&T for over a week now. Both the company and the 3rd party company I tried to use as a middleman said that AT&T is declining. I have been given a HUGE run-around after the first failed attempt. They gave me the EXACT same porting information after spending nine hours on the phone with them one day. I tried again. Unsurprisingly, it was failed again. When I inquired about it the representative was less than helpful and a bit rude, seeming anxious to get off the phone. I don't know what to do. My entire life is essentially circulated around that number. Any suggestions?
