ATT Misguided Promotion

Hello,

I am inquiring about the free iPhone XR deal during Nov 2019 Thanksgiving weekend. We were with a different carrier, one of the ATT rep informed us that if we move to ATT, we will get free iPhone XR and no need to be on any specific plan. If we choose Unlimited Plan and trade-in a qualified phone we can get iPhone 11. After discussing this and doing the math for 30 minutes, we agreed to switch and go with iPhone XR.

Since we switched, I called ATT multiple times for the $20 rebate on each iPhone. In Dec and Jan, folks kept telling me to wait for a few weeks. This week, I was told that 9GB data plan doesn't qualify for this and the only way to qualify for this is by switching to Unlimited Plan. If we were told earlier, we would have switched to iPhone 11. I even have two other people who were with me who heard this conversation and did complete math to make sure we understood everything from monthly plan cost, each line cost, and tax/fee.

Trying to see if others had a similar issue, what did you do to have ATT fix it? Did anyone else get misguided information on the free iPhone XR during 2019 Thanksgiving?

Hello,

I understand the frustration of feeling like there was misguided info. This appears to be the Black Friday or Early a holiday offer, the details clearly stated for that:

“...get their choice of an iPhone XR 64GB, Samsung S10e 128GB, LG G8X ThinQ, or Google Pixel 4 64GB .

-Must be a new line purchased on an installment plan.

-Qualifying unlimited rate plan is required for consumer.”

First two lines of offer in bold below offer. At this point, there are new unlimited plans, like Starter, that start at $120/mo for two lines. If that not in your price range, the customer care at 800. 331. 0500. And say “Loyalty department” when prompted for reason for call.

When we walked into the store, we asked the rep and didn't really look at any papers. walked us through detail cost for each line on 9GB plan, tax/fee associated with each line and $20 charger and $20 credit. We went through each cost line by line and had two other people with me who collaborated this.

Now, we were made aware of this other detail. This is causing other issues 1) added monthly cost 2) possibly not able to get the $20 credit 3) lie and deception by sales rep. All of this leaving a very bad taste in our mouth. Already escalated the issue on multiple front, just trying to understand what others found to be succesful?

People who got the credits for this deal read the deal and followed the requirements of the promotion. The promotion was published online for anyone to see at att.com. As are all promotions.

There's really no incentive for them NOT to sell you on the unlimited plan, because of their quota system.

There is absolutely no way to get the promotion several months after the fact, not even switching plans at this point will trigger the promotional credits.

Complaints are for those who did meet all the requirements, and still did not get the credits
