ATT Locked My Account & Number
On Friday I decided to get the new iPhone 14 Pro with best buy because I have total tech and it's cheaper to buy ur iPhone from Best Buy instead of ATT etc. I also ported my number to ATT using the best buy website.(worst mistake ever). So I got the Phone on Monday night (Sept 19th) & went inside the ATT store to activate my phone. I waited on line for one hour to speak with someone. They logged in my account etc etc & said they can't turn anything on because of a lock on my account. So I called ATT waited on hold for 1 hour again for them to tell me my account is locked due to a fraud alert on my account. At this point it was super late the the ATT store closed, so I had to leave and go back to my dorm & call back. After waiting on hold they asked me questions to verify my identity. All the questions I got had nothing to do with me. I failed 3 times & they said they can't do anything. I asked if there was anything she can do to help me at least get on my phone and call/text my family & friends. She then transfers me to the phone activation line & they tell me to tell them the IMEI & EID number. I do this FOUR TIMES repeating myself to them. on the third time I heard them laughing and giggling because of my studder. I also can tell I was on speaker. At this point, I really don't care all I want is my phone number. So I tell the rep to cancel my account and I'll return the phone to best buy. She says I first have to return the phone to best buy before they can cancel my account and port my out. So the next day I go to my local best buy with the phone and try to return it. The best buy employee told me that the phone can't be returned because ATT suspended my account. So I called ATT back told them the problem and they told me, they still can't do anything because my phone line is suspended due to fraud & they tell me to call the Global Fraud Dept. So the next day I called the Global Fraud Dept to try and figure out how to get my number back to my old carrier and delete my ATT account. The agent told me my account was locked due to my Fraud Alert i put on my credit report. I totally forgot I put a fraud lock on my credit. The agent also told me they tried to call my number to verify I opened an account but never gotten an answer. (They tried calling me AFTER I ported my number to ATT, meaning I didn't have access to my number because my account was LOCKED) He told me to call experian and tell them to update my number so they can call me and verify who I am. So I updated my number on the Experian website which is instant. They told me to call back tomorrow because nothing changed for them. Now it's Thursday with no phone, no service, all my accounts locked due to 2FA. My School account locked cant do any work, all my bank accounts locked because of my number not being able to get 2fa codes. I'm pretty much locked out of everything. So I call Experian and ask when will they update my number in the system for ATT to see & they told me it only takes around 1 hour maybe longer depending on the company. I also asked them about the questions being all wrong and they told me everything looks good on my credit and nothing has changed. I also told them to take off all credit locks and freezes on my credit. After calling them I also called the 2 other bureaus to make sure everything was good. After calling I waited a whole day to call ATT. So friday afternoon I called ATT Fraud Dept and asked if they can redo the question or check my credit file for my updated number. They tell me everything is the same and I'm pretty much still locked out of my account and can't get my number. I even ask if I can go to ATT to verify myself. Heck I'll even go to your office and bring my ID, but of course, that's not allowed. I asked to talk to a supervisor and she told me just to keep waiting. So I waited another day and called Saturday, Talked to the fraud people asked to redo the questions. The agent told me the questions & I got 2 correct, the rest were not about me (I'm assuming I got 2 correct because only 2 of the questions related to me). He told me I still failed & my account is still locked. It's not almost a full week with no phone service. Idk what else to do at this point. This whole week has be terrible for me, at this point I'm just going to sue ATT for this. I already talked with a lawyer and started the process. If you guys ever had the same problem or any tips please lmk. Also I know there are so many errors please forgive me.
