AT&T International Day Pass with eSim

I have a new iPad Pro 5th Generation with an eSim card.  On a recent trip to the UK I signed up for AT&T International Day Pass but was unable to get a signal.  On calling AT&T for help the agent said Day Pass doesn't work with an eSim.  This doesn't seem right.  Does anyone know for sure?  Thanks.

The international day pass only works for phones. The iPad is a data only device. You should have purchased a data only SIM  and plan in the UK for the iPad.

Thanks for the feedback.

Why does AT&T market the International Day Pass on their site for iPads also then?

Add an international data option
It’s easy to add a compatible international option. International DataPass plans can be future-dated to start when you're ready to travel.

  1. Go to Settings, then Cellular Data, and then Account. If you have an Apple SIM, select Set Up Cellular Data.
  2. Select Worldwide Data Plan and follow the prompts to add an international package

We understand how something like that can be a concern, @Miketu! While you won't find AT&T International Day Pass for Apple iPads, you will find that we offer data-only plans and international data for tablets, computers, and other mobile devices.

As @Fl_retire advised, you will need to purchase a compatible data only plan and SIM card to use your iPad internationally.

Follow these instructions to learn how to add a compatible international package. What's more, International Data Pass plans can be future dated to start when you're ready to travel.

  • To add a prepaid DataConnect Pass Global package: Select a link below and sign in to your DataConnect Pass account using the email and password you used during set up. Select Add Worldwide Data Plan and follow the prompts.
  • To add a postpaid international data package: Go to the AT&T Passport Data package page and follow the prompts to sign in to myAT&T to add a package.

International and domestic off-net (roaming) data usage may be at 2G speeds.

We hope this info helps. Thank you for contacting our AT&T Community Forums.
