Att confused adding new lines

Att in store approved me for four new lines with no deposit
My wife told me to go ahead and order this phone and tablet tonight because the free tablet promotion is ending
So the rep on the phone said she wanted to verify identify because they already did a credit check in the store i didn't want someone to run. 2nd one, i told her this after her asking my name last for digits of my ssn and After asking about multiple choices questions about streets city's and county's i lived in she said your order has been approved, then she said please hold while i place your order, then she said after a few mins that i have to pay 450 dollars, i asked her if she ran credit after i told her they did it in the store and i didn't want it ran, she said it was required, i said i would have went back to the store they already approved me for 4 lines with no deposit. She said that was impossible if i want the lines i need 450.00

Sounds like they're wanting a security deposit, which isn't uncommon if you have bad credit or hardly any credit at all. Why didn't you want them to run a credit check over the phone? They have to do it to make sure you're in fact eligible and they don't know if it was ran in the store or not. The questions she asked you are the same ones they ask in the store when you're trying to sign up for service, which you should have known when she was asking you.

Why didn't you do it in the store in the first place? If they were honestly going to give you four lines without a security deposit, you should have did it right then.

Hello @square.round

Sometimes there is a limit of lines you may get approved for at first, it doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem with your credit. Our team will be happy to check it for you and go over your options. You can send us a private message by using the link below, just click on ATTCustomerCare to create a new message. Please include your full name, phone number, account number and the best time you can be reached.

Thank you,
