Att account

I work for att in a mall as an authorized retailer, I got my bf an account and we upgraded his phone to the new Samsung ultra a little while back. He lost his job a couple months back (2-3) and we haven't been able to pay the phonebill with installment plans since I'm working on a minimum wage job. Our past due is 315 and total amount due is 1598.41 (post paid account). What can we do about that? Will the account be restored once we pay the past due plus the new month? Will we be able to continue the installment plans? 

I want to try to avoid the collection agency if possible...

to restore service you must pay the balance to zero.
