Are you guys Pirates or an actual company?

Dear All,

I am doing my best to remain calm.  I will jump right to the point.  Please dont tell me to call assurion either.  You sold the crap, you call Assurion.  Ive been on hold long enough.  Plus, I dont deal with assurion, ATT does.  I did business with AT&T not Assurion.

[Inappropriate content removed]

It is unethical for sales reps to sell insurance without mentioning that there is still a deductible.  All they talk about is "it doesn’t matter if you throw it against the wall or lose it in a lake, you are covered.  They need to mention that there is a deductible, and they also need to mention that after your first replacement the others will be refurbished and not new replacements.

The reason I bring this up is that these unethical business practices make it hard on Sales people to sell add on warranties/insurance because of the bad name the end up getting due to these unethical actions by some.

My profession for 21 years now has been sales and sales management.  You may ask, darn 21 years in sales and sales management, who does that?  Only people who don’t withhold the whole truth or outright lie to customers.  Further to my point, the behavior of these sales folks gives add on warranties and insurance plans, maintenance agreements a bad name and makes it more difficult for companies like AT&T among others to resell these add on services which generate so much extra income for the companies who sell them.

STOP LYING TO CUSTOMERS, TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH.  DO NOT WITHHOLD!  IT IS NOT WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN.

I will dedicate the rest of my existence to making sure people know the truth about ATT and their sales tactics.  The lord knows they aren’t going to tell the truth.

Very Poor Choice.

all the carriers use assurion for insurance.

its not like ATT is not upfront about it if you read your contract or sales info.  Here is the page on the website.

By the way, there is not enough time to read the contract in the store with all the people around and pressures from the sales folks.

The correct thing to do would be for the sales reps to fully divulge the information rather than not.

sure there is!  Our ATT store is busy and I made the rep wait 10 min while I read all the info on the contract.  Its not like you would not read the contract when buying a house.  I read the next plan info also before signing up for it.

What is the issue that you are having?  I see that you were told to contact Assurion.  Did you damage the device or is it malfunctioning?  Were you told that there wasn't a deductible?  Were you told that you would be getting a brand new phone if you use the insurance?  I don't see how you get that it is "unethical" to sell you something and not explain it word for word.  Sometimes you need to ask questions.  You could've asked them about if there would be a deductible.   IF they lied about the deductible or lied about getting a brand new device, then yes that would've been "unethical".  Either way when you make a purchase you do need to ask questions and spend a little time looking at what you are buying.

My car insurance has a deductable, my home owners has a deductable, my health insurance has a co pay or deductable.
I don't know of any insurance without a deductable.

I bought my car from Toyota, but my insurance is Travelers. If my car is damaged, I contact Travelers.

If your phone having a problem that can be covered by the warranty, which is good for one year, then you can talk to ATT.

If they've been in sales for 21 years, then they surely know of the reputation that sales people have about not disclosing all the information up front, and only telling you the positive factors about what they are trying to sell.  They also know that threre are things in the fine print that turn every sale into a money making venture for the seller.  They chose to ignore those things that they already know so they could blame someone else for their carelessness.    Modern society is becoming too helpless to take care of themselves so you end up with people sueing restaurants because the "hot coffee" burned them.  It wasn't sold as "luke warm coffee", it was "hot coffee"...
