Amount due for closed account

Hello, I recently closed my account with ATT and to my surprise i received a final bill that apparently as to do with some phones that i purchased with a discount via customer loyalty and they apparently came with an agreement that i did not know. Not only am i furious i also just lost my job in the airline industry and have no way of paying this bill. What alternatives do i have???
