Activation fees on everything?
I am going to be in the US for 22 days only and need Internet on my laptop. Is there really no AT&T service (without an activation fee of $40) for either a sim card for the computer, or a sim card to put in my mobile so that I can use it as a hotspot for my computer to connect to the Internet?
I chatted with AT&T about this but when the chat was over I saw when I checked their website that I had gotten conflicting information. Would appreciate your input here!

There's no activation fee for prepaid account. Also, if you don't sign a two year contract with at&t, there's no activation. I know that as a fact. I am 100% sure about this.

Thanks for your reply! You are right, there was a service called prepaid mobile hotspot which I bought in to yesterday...without an activation fee!
It was great, only 25$ for 30 days and 1.5 GB data!
Can't believe the AT&T chat guy said there was an activation fee of 40$ on all such services! Such ignorance on something that seems pretty basic to me!
