Any email or message you receive like that is a scam. Plain and simple. If you are concerned, call the AT&T number located on the AT&T website, not that number. Do not respond. Just delete it.

I received a phone call from 614-327-3833 telling me they were AT&T and that my service had been suspended. To speak to a rep press 1. When I pressed 1 on the phone they instantly asked for my name. When I asked who they were trying to call and to please use a different form of identification from me they put me on hold for 25 minutes. If I’m wasting their time they can’t call someone else. She came back on the line and asked my name. I again asked her what name she had and to verify my identity another way because I wasn’t sure if it was a scam. She asked how she didn’t know if I was a scammer. Then cursed at me and hung up on me.

@Sarah0282 That was a scam and you should never respond to them. Once you respond, they know they have an active number. If it happens again, and you do get a live person, just place a bull horn or loud whistle next to the phone and let it blow.

I had the same thing this morning. Did a reverse lookup on the number and it came up a mobile phone. Doubt seriously they are using mobile phones. Checked my bank account and the payment went through over a week ago. No problems there. Definitely a scam!! I always double check this stuff.

My husband and I got the same message on our phones. I logged on here to find out if it’s even worthwhile to report it. I wonder if AT&T tries to find the source or if the scam is so widespread it’s not worth the effort...

I also received this same message. I called the number and they ask if you want to “unlock”
your debit card and then proceed to ask you to enter the number of your card. Needless to say, I hung up without doing that! I just got on this forum to make them aware but apparently several others have already experienced this scam.
