Kids smart watch

I was wondering I have an eight-year-old who loves to play in the neighborhood but I would like her to have a smart watch with GPS that is kid friendly I see other phone companies that do it like Verizon and T-Mobile but AT&T from what I hear does not offer one and I was wondering if there would be something offered for a kids smart watch or if there something on the market that I could purchase and put a Sim card in

Hi,

I was actually searching for the same thing and came across a watch called TickTalk. You can link it to your AT&T Account. Monthly plans range from $10 - $40. But the watch is a little pricey $170. Goodluck to you!

But it wont be able to be activated at the end of the year as it does not have VoLTE.

Just an FYI. There is currently no LTE replacements for the gizmo watch which Verizon sells, or used to sell.  Verizon‘s gizmo watch will no longer work once their CDMA service is shut down. AT&T also does not have a device.

there is really no suitable replacement for adult supervision.

Rude. The entire point is to increase supervision by having away to stay in touch with my son as he rides his bike around the block or plays basketball at his friend's house. Did your parents follow you around the neighborhood all day on Saturday not breaking the line of sight?

From the Verizon site:  "The GizmoWatch comes with the speed and reliability of the nation’s largest 4G LTE network."  Verizon still sells them and, in fact, they are currently on sale with a two year contract.

@Hrumph   Yes, Verizon has a new LTE version.  Just in time as they expect to shut down CDMA within a year.    It can work across carriers and Verizon has a single device plan.

This sounds great, but I want a no frills no distraction device for my young child. I love my att service, but I was almost recruited to Verizon because of ATT’s lack of product for my child. Luckily Verizon gave us a deal and allowed us the service without us having to switch over. Att should take note at the number of requests for this product. Your original may not have sold because it included too many distractions. I only wanted reminders, tracking, and talking abilities on the watch. The others which included games were a no go for me, if I wanted that I could have gotten any other smart watch on the market. Please put some consideration into stocking a simple kids smart watch.

Atthelpforums has some nerve marking their reply as solution, when it’s not.  AT&T smart watches are not stand alone devices like a kids tracking watch.
Verizon’s gizmo pal can be put on a single device plan, cheap, and managed on an At&t account with their app.

@lizdance40 Thank you! We love our AT&T and service and have had it for 20 years, I do not want to switch to Verizon as the coverage is not as great, but my pre-teen walks home from school, even though it is only a few blocks I want the security of being able to contact or find her. I am not getting her a phone, middle-schoolers do not need phones IMO.

For all intents and purposes the Gizmo Gadget is a phone. I would encourage you to take a good look at the device, and compare it to maybe adding a flip phone, especially if Verizon service is not reliable in your area.

Verizon's kids watch is available on the $10 a month single device plan. The companion app for the parent will run on another carrier.
So as long as Verizon works well enough in your area for connection you can still stay with AT&T and run the watch on Verizon

@stevejacobs

It will Not work on AT&T!

It does not support required LTE bands.  Is not voice over LTE capable.

Please do not spam the forum with devices At&t will not allow on its network.

Unless it's on the whitelist, it can't be activated.
