After I numbersync, the phone unsyncs itself.

Glad to hear it!   Now you remember how for next time right.  😂🤣😂🤣😂.   Truly, I live in fear of having to set it up again.  

Have a gear 2 with AT&T- son has Samsung phone with straight talk- I’ve installed app on his phone- his phone says error syncing- can it be synced together with 2 different phone carriers? Or I’m I missing a step.

Both would have to be under the same AT&T account.  Numbersync is an AT&T feature.  I'm sure lizdance and glimmerman will be able to.get you the answer you're looking for.

Number sync only works for ATT devices on an ATT account.  So, no, that will not work.
