Activating an Apple Watch 6 get RESCOM0111 error

I have the RESCOM0111 error code issue. Started Oct 16th trying to replace apple watch 3 with an apple watch 6. On the phone with ATT on the 16th, 19th, 22nd, 24th and again on Nov 4. each time 1 to 4 hours, same RESCOM0111 problem. Unpairing, pairing, cycling power on and off multiple times, same issue. Nice and polite support people. But I have no confidence in what they are telling me the problem will ever be fixed. I have been with ATT since Cingular. 3 phones, iPad and 2 watches, only issue is the watch 6. I'll give them week or so then I have no choice, after all these years to switch to Verizon. Sad.

Is there anybody at AT&T that can fix my problem. Case number: CM20201017_147157478

@golletaman - AT&T has known about its cellular service not connecting to Apple Watch 6 and prior Apple Watches, as you will see in searching for other postings about the RESCOM0111 / Apple Watch error. AT&T "Advanced Tech Support" or the voices that answer after hours on hold listening to AT&T's incessant ads state that this problem requires a "back end" fix, however other than sitting on the RESCOM0111 error, no one ever calls to say that the Back End Boys have it fixed, or to give an estimate of when the fix might occur. In my experience, AT&T's "Advanced Tech Support" is a mirage of ineffectual promises to follow up that never progress to a solution.

I have never received any unanswered email from AT&T to follow up on the RESCOM0111 Apple Watch error - AT&T is totally unresponsive.  - Obviously, ATTHelp Autobot emails of posts, such as in this thread don't count as "responsive."

Since my last post:

Nov. 7th, on phone with Apple senior support for almost an hour, explained what I've been going thru. He started a support case and was going to contact ATT about it. Never heard back.

Nov. 11th went to ATT store and explained my issues, he tried to activate my Watch 6, same issue. Manager there finally removed the old watch 3 from my account to make sure it was not causing any problem. Tried again to activate the Watch 6 and could not.

The manager had mentioned he has seen this before, but only from Watch 6’s that were purchased directly from Apple. Has not seen this issue from Watch 6’s purchased thru AT&T.

Suggested I return the watch and get one specific to AT&T, and bring it in.

On Nov 22nd I purchased yet another Watch 6 directly from AT&T and took it to the ATT store and after the att store employee on the phone with ATT tech support for 45 minutes, still could not get cellular to work. Different errors this time. MSSI_INVALID_INPUT and ERR0093-WS. The support guy said he elevated the issue and that something needed to be done to fix it and that I should try it again that night and it should be resolved. It was not resolved, same errors. Tried several more times over next week and same errors.

(Just want to mention, this is not a dig at the ATT store people, they were polite, helpful and did everything they personally could do.)

From what I have been reading online about other ATT issues it does seem like nobody knows how to fix the problems. They just follow a list of stuff to try, say they elevated it, and it goes into the bit bucket. I guess I'll be returning my 3rd apple watch. I'm not going to get stuck and pay for a cellular watch with AT&T having me pay a monthly fee. Hopefully someone out there has the fix for my problem.

Same issue here. Total waste of customer support. It’s been two weeks. I call every day. Does getting a new iPhone help?

Follow up from last Post:

Nov 30th.
Called AT&T support.
Explained the history of my issues.
Went thru the same reset, Pair and setup again, got same errors.
Someone else at AT&T said for me to turn off my watch, wait 4 hours and he will call me back.

Called back, said try it again, same errors.
He handed me off to another tech support person, account specialist had me reset again, unpair from phone. Tried to pair and kept unpairing. Turning off phone and watch for 3 minutes. Did not work, same errors.

The account specialist said to wait 24 hours something about network update? call AT&T back after 24 hours.

Same account specialist called back with a case number: CM20201130_147620695
Said the case was expedited and will be resolved within 24 hours. someone would call me back by tomorrow.

Dec 1st.
Of course, no call back still does not work.

Dec 2nd.
Called AT&T, this time he just said they are working on it. So the 24 hours will be resolved must have been optimistic.

Back to AT&T store.
Dec 11,
Went to AT&T store to see if any progress has been made.

He did seem to find that the NumberSync was not on my watch 6 account. After about 2 hours , (portion on phone with AT&T support, portion on phone with AT&T Advanced support – says problem has been elevated I should hear back in 48hrs. Kudos for the effort the people at the AT&T store have put in to try and solve my problem.) I’m still getting the MSSI_INVALID_INPUT and ERR0093-WS Errors.

AT&T 611
Dec 16
Having the monthly charges removed from my bill for the watch since AT&T cannot get it to connect to their network. Would only credit the activation fee of $30, not the monthly fee.

Went online and paid off the watch 6 full amount. $525.00

AT&T tech support line
Jan 4th.
Called AT&T support. They put me through to advanced support.
Explained the history of my issues.
Went thru the same reset, Pair and setup again, got same errors.
She said noted in the case #, says this will be expedited and someone will call me in 24 to 48 hours.
(Deja Vu all over again)

Jan 6th,
No call back from AT&T.

Today I’m switching my 5 devices to Verizon!

I am experiencing the same issue with a new Apple 6 watch. I have 6 lines that I might need to change to Spectrum if this issue is not addressed.

It’s the phone. They are lying. Swap SIM card out with another phone. Pair watch. Create NumberSync. Unpair then put SIM card back in your phone. Pair with watch.

Can I get more details about the SIM card switch? For instance if I use my wife's SIM card, would it ruin her use of her watch 4? or

With my wife’s iPhone, I wonder if I unpair her Apple Watch 4 and then try to pair my Apple Watch 6. Unpair my Watch 6 and pair hers back. Would that  be doing the same thing in creating the NumberSync? Then pair my watch6 to my iPhone. Just want to make sure I don’t screw her being able to use her Watch 4.

Sorry. So you need to Number sync your SIM card to that Apple Watch’s phone number, right? So, putting your SIM card in my wife’s old phone, use the watch app and pair it. When you get to the ATT part giving you the error, it will work. Complete the pairing and numbersync. Then unpair the watch with your wife’s phone. Keep the cellular plan on the watch when asked. Put SIM card back into your phone and pair the watch with your phone. Should recognize the NumberSync and go right past the cellular set up.
