WGN and other terminated channels owned by Nexstar

Discovered last night that Uverse took away WGN. I am disgusted. Can't even find a link to view the current announcement of channel changes. Cost keeps going up, yet number of channels provided keeps decreasing. I give up.

Hello,

I am not receiving FOX TV via AT&T.  Instead I get a message that the contract with Nextstar has expired.

The only reason I pay for TV service on AT&T is for the local stations.

When will the contract with Nextstar be renewed?

Thank you,
John Strebler

This is an on going dispute and we have been missing our locals for about 3 months now.  No one here can tell you when AT&T and Nexstar will come into an agreement as we are all just customers just like you.  AT&T is giving a 1-time credit of $10 for people who are affected by this dispute. To get this credit go to www.Directv.com/tvpromise and fill out your information.  This credit is for Directv & AT&T customers.  Just be patient and hopefully this will be resolved soon.

I went to the cited URL, and it said in the next AT&T billing cycle, my $10.00 credit should appear.
Thank you for that info.

Well, I only still have cable to watch sports.  And Fox8 in Cleveland is carrying the Ohio State football game Saturday.  If the dispute isn't settled before then, that will be the official day that Att U-verse will no longer provide me with any value at all and I will be cutting the cord.  Internet and Fubu TV will be in my future.

@Ignats75 Good luck with that. Fubo is the worst they drop channels all the time.  They dropped A&E networks and TBS and that is just to name a few.  At least with your AT&T U-Verse, you will get your channel(s) back it will just take a while, while they negotiate.  AT&T is much better than Fubo.  I know this because I  had Fubo for a while.  I left because they just keep dropping channels.

I KC I CAN NO LONGER GET WDAF, CHANNEL 4 OR NEWSMAX, THEY ARE TWO OF MY FAVORITE CHANNELS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO NOT WATCH THEM!

Good lord take a moment to read some of the thousands of posts here in the forums regarding the issue.

I'm not sure why NewsMax is affected...that seems like something wrong with the user end.

Your local channels are missing because of a contract dispute between Nexstar and AT&T.  But your Newsmax station not coming in is completely different from this dispute.  I know that at least 2 people have complained about their Newsmax channel being gone in the Directv Forums and now to hear this same issue from a U-Verse customer makes me think that this could be an area-specific issue with Newsmax not coming in anymore but not 100% sure as there have been so few complaints about this issue.

What the heck is going on with deleting my local Panthers football games. I live in Charlotte, NC and can't get the Panthers football games this year..

What gives?  Is that now an additional fee?

Where do I go?

Jim

Blackout restrictions? I'd go to the Panthers website and see if there's any info on blackouts. Agreements with the NFL, affiliate owners, and providers can change season by season.

The Fox affiliate in Charlotte, NC (WJZY) is owned by Nexstar.  Nexstar withdrew consent for U-verse TV to carry its programming on 2 July 2023 and they have not reached another agreement for U-verse TV to carry Nexstar station programming.  The Sun 09/10 game would have been on this Fox affiliate and this is why you could not watch it.

This may affect these future games in October:

Sun 10/01

Sun 10/08

Sun 10/29

The remaining games in September will be on these channels:

Mon 09/18 is on ESPN • ESPN DEPORTES

Sun 09/24 is on CBS, so WBV if I remember right.
As far as I know, you should be able to watch both of these.

I am so frustrated that for what we pay every month we cannot get the CBS programming at all. I get that AT&T is in a contract dispute with Nexstar, but they could at least give us network programming from CBS stations that are not owned by Nexstar. I'm living in the South but this lifelong SEC girl can only get SEC games on CBS via Youtube, which doesn't let me check in on other games during the commercials. Argh! Give me the channels I contracted for!

That’s not how it works.  CBS affiliates have exclusive rights in their market.

Use an OTA antenna to pick up the station in question.  I keep an antenna for this very reason or if my UverseTV goes out for any length of time.  This old lady is not missing her programs.  🤪

We have no antenna and as we live in a heavily wooded are in the mountains, it's not an easy thing to do.

1) Starting a new thread won't help at all.

2) You didn't "contract" for any channels. IIRC, U-Verse did away with contracts several years ago. In addition, channels are not promised. Programming can change at any time...just the same as with any provider.

3) How the heck do you have U-Verse in the wooded mountains?

@oldeyes  Read your TOS. Television service is guaranteed but not specific stations. It's like that with all providers.

Here’s a question that I’ve been wanting to ask for awhile now.  Maybe @baseballisback or @OttoPylot knows.

We hear the “we can’t use an antenna because of trees/mountains/location” all the time.  I’m a city gal old enough to remember neighborhoods filled with antennas on the roofs and rabbit ears on the TV.   If you lived in a “heavily wooded area in the mountains” pre-paid TV how did you watch TV?  Or did you just not have a TV prior to the 70s when satellite TV became available?  😳

I can’t imagine a life without seeing I Love Lucy, man’s first step on the moon, John-John saluting his father’s casket or The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show.  🥹
