WGN and other terminated channels owned by Nexstar

Discovered last night that Uverse took away WGN. I am disgusted. Can't even find a link to view the current announcement of channel changes. Cost keeps going up, yet number of channels provided keeps decreasing. I give up.

@Uverse37122  Have you not been reading thru this thread? Nexstar pulled their network feed, not AT&T,  because AT&T has not capitulated to the exorbitant retrans fees that Nexstar wants for their family of local affiliate stations that they own (something like 190 across the U.S.). It's a common tactic with the affiliate owners to force the provider to meet their demands because they know that most customers don't understand how re-transmission agreements go and how they are negotiated so they depend on the customer's to force the provider to meet the demands.

Keep in mind that your TOS clearly states that specific channels or stations are not guaranteed, only the broadcast service. And they do that for this very reason. All providers have that in their TOS because all providers will eventually have to go thru retrans negotiations, usually every 2 or 3 years. Some are easy, others like this are not.

It'd be great if people read, but when they can start a thread without being in that forum, there's no incentive to read.

Nexstar wants double the money they were getting.

AT&T wants to keep their rates low.

Go AT&T!

FTR, here are the competing Press Releases, in the interest of getting letting both companies tell you what a dirty dog the other one is.

Nexstar

DIRECTV

After having read both, I think DIRECTV either has a more compelling case, or at least better Press Release writers.

Since we no longer get channels that carry NBC, FOX, and other channels, can subscribers expect  refunds/reduced rates?  We should not have to continue to pay for canceled channels.

You can get a one time credit of $10 by visiting https://tvpromise.com and requesting the credit.  The actual channels provided by your package is not fixed and can and does change regularly as carriage agreements expire and new ones are signed.

I'm a U-verse tv customer in good standing, I really hate it when things like this happens. Like most other things in our daily lives, just about everything is always about money, some companies just can't seem to get enough of it to be satisfied, in this particular it's the nexstar corporation who's trying to be greedy.

When will this dispute be over, I now am without ABC and CBS.  I have contacted another service and am seriously considering switching. I have never used another service.  I am so disappointed and frustrated.  We cannot even get any answers if we are lucky enough to get a human to talk to.  And please dont say that you understand my frustration because if you did you would get this over with.

It would be helpful if you would say where you are located and the call letters of the stations you are referring to.

Apparently someone else failed to notice the message on the screen.

But on what calendar is July 2nd the same as October 2022?

What happens when Nexstar can't agree to terms with your new provider because your new provider fails to agree to the ransom? Nexstar wants double the money they've been getting.

I have been patient with the disruption of service of 2 local channels. I am getting to the point were I am seriously thinking about switching providers. This along with a price increase to get an extra box for my house, when I was eligible for 4 boxes to begin with and never used them all. This has left a bitter taste in my mouth for ATT Uverse. Its a shame to lose a customer that has been with you for almost 20 years, but doesn't seem like ATT really cares. I know that I will be switching back to Verizon for my cellular phone, reception in areas that I visit is awful.

Ask your prospective new providers when their retransmit agreements with Nexstar and your other local station owners expire so you know how long your honeymoon with them could be good for.

@speedracerbd  Re-transmission agreements happen with all providers at one time or another so switching to another provider may not be the answer. Agreements eventually get settled but it is painful with the temporary loss of your favorite stations. It’s common practice for the station owners to pull their network feeds to try and force the providers to meet their demands knowing full well that the customers will blame the provider.

1) It's not monthly, it's one time.

2) You need to go to https://tvpromise.com for the one-time credit.

@JefferMC I'm surprised the anonymous "feckin" didn't:

1) Expect someone in billing to know who they are.

2) Post personal information so they could be identified.
