Watch ESPN App Issue - "User Not Authorized" Error

I'm a U-200 subscriber, I get all of the ESPN channels on u-verse.  I recently moved to Kansas City from Chicago, and since the move I haven't been able to access Watch ESPN online.  I've tried from my laptop, phone and two different tablets.  I just get the User Not Authorized error.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  I don't have time to spend an hour on hold waiting for tech support.

I am able to load Watch ESPN and sign in under my Uverse account on my laptop, but when I try to do the same on my desktop, it says "User not authorized Error." I do indeed pay for cable and internet. Anyone have any suggestions? I have already tried resetting my password. Didn't help.

I also moved from San Diego (U-Verse customer) to Kansas City, and all TV apps stopped working on all platforms (iPhone, iPad, Android, laptop, Apple TV, Xbox) after my move. Worked flawlessly in CA, but after moving here and keeping my account, I haven't been able to watch at all. After combing through the forums, this seems to be a problem for KC customers.

 

Very frustrating, as I can't get anyone on the phone to help out, and I use these apps at the office and on other TVs that have a game console. It's been two months, and I get the same answer (known problem, blah blah) but since there hasn't been too much of an uproar on the Internet, this seems to be a localized problem that AT&T doesn't care to fix for the few that have problems.

 

I've seen someone have success by bugging ESPN rather than AT&T; seems like if ESPN tells AT&T what to do, there's some success there. But as my daughter watches Disney Channel on Apple TV, and I watch NBCSports for Formula One replays, etc. I'd have to do this for every provider. Time to find out if Google Fiber has arrived in our area yet...

If you've read the posts before September you'd see that a lot of people who had this problem had just moved their U-verse service.  The U-verse Technical Team was able to fix most of them (maybe all, but not everyone posts back) when contacted by PM.  Although there are other issues apparently going on, I'd go ahead and use this AT&T logoU-verse Customer Service link to send a Private Message (PM) to the AT&T customer service team to help you resolve your issues. You can expect a reply via return PM (the blue envelope envelope  in the upper right hand corner of this site, next to your name and avatar) in a business day or three.

This is a group of U-verse service specialists who are knowledgeable about U-verse and will stay with your problem until the end (instead of forgetting about it when the phone hits the cradle). Speed things up by including your Full Name, Billing Account Number, and the best time and way to reach you.

Same issue here.  I have sent a private message, but it's been 3 days and not a peep out of ATT U-Verse Care.  Very discouraging since I've been singing U-Verse's praise to everyone I know.

Have same problem.  Was working until 9/12.  Called ATT support then and got what I told them was predictable response - "Contact ESPN support."  No point.  Followed uverse care link, posted message, no response yet as well.  Thanks for posting link. Good to know there may be hope to resolve.  Not so good to see no one has posted a positive follow-up resolution message.  I am waiting by the PHONE, ATT.  Remember what that is?

Hello all,

You should also know that sometimes AT&T will send an email to your email you provided when signing up for this forum. So if they have not replied, check your email just to make sure they have not sent one there.

Recently moved..had btngo app, hbogo app and watch ESPN app working prior to move. For the last month, I am unable to access any of them. The watch ESPN app goes from choose your provider page back to same page. Btngo says generic authentication error and hbogo says they are unable to log me in at this time. I am a 450 customer. Been on the phone with att many times and was just told att doesn't support watch ESPN any longer. Would like some help with these issues.

Hello @Bsalter756,

AT&T does support Watch ESPN. It is a big problem with the apps not working.

You can send a message to ATTU-verseCare with the link in my signature. Be sure to include your Name, Account Number, Phone Number, and a good time to reach you. Be sure to check your email and the top right corner of this forum for their reply.

Hope they can get this fixed for you.

I moved back in Jan and this has been a constant issue since.  Still haven't been able to log on to WatchESPN on my laptop or on Apple TV

Ok so I get this error, says to contact provider. I don't want to talk to Att because its ALWAYS a hassle so, reaching out here. I DO have U200 or above TV subscription, I have a bunch of sports channels. But I am trying to access this watch ESPN content on my LG smartphone. I used to be able to watch on my laptop but its motherboard is fried so yeah, smartphone is my only means of viewing it. I am at home but I can't watch a sports game on TV because my wife wants to watch her shows. Sooooooo can't I watch on my mobile device or is there some authorization issue with it???

There have apparently been some general issues with third-party provider authorization and sometimes some account issues.  You can ask ATTU-verseCare via PM to look into your account to see if the authentication needs fixing up.

I am having the same issue.  It seems when I moved, which was last weekend, something was messed up.  I have tried chatting, talking and e-mail tech support to get an answer.  So far nothing yet.

 

I tried resetting my password.

 

I cannot even access any of the "watch" channels via computer.

 

Has anyone gotten anywhere with this.
