Volume button no longer works on S30

For some reason, my U-verse S30 remote will no longer raise or lower the tv volume. In fact, it will no longer let me change the input (HDMI1, HDMI2, etc) and it will no longer turn the tv off with the power button. I’ve read some previous posts that state to do the following: [ok+menu] then Volume Up and then the On Demand Button to revert the remote back to the TV volume. I can get into the programming mode with [ok + menu] but since the volume button doesn’t work, I don’t know what to do about the volume up step? I tried but once I pressed On Demand, it just opened the on demand screen. Any suggestions??

Thanks!

We're here to help, @Teeeenabeeee!

A general first step for troubleshooting remotes is replacing the current batteries with fresh new ones. Sometimes, as batteries have run their course, it makes it more difficult for commands to reach the TV or for certain buttons to work.

Let us know if this helps. We look forward to hearing back from you!

@ATTHelp I tried that with no luck. It seems that the remote will no longer do any actions for the tv. It’s now controlling the box volume which is why I tried the reprogramming steps which did not work 😥

@Teeeenabeeee.

Thanks for trying anyway. At this point, we'd recommend checking out our article on Troubleshooting your U-verse Remote. Once you get there, you will want to scroll down to the section labeled No/Intermittent Response. You can skip changing the batteries since you already did that.

For some reason, the AT&T Remotes seem to have an issue with the volume down button. They seem to wear out after a few thousand clicks. For a while, you can press hard, or hold it for a few seconds... then that doesn't even work. Then you can set it on the floor and jump up and down on it. Won't make it work any better, but you'll feel better.

@Teeeenabeeee.

Thanks @JefferMC.

You can check out our article on How to Reset U-verse TV Remotes to do that step, and if you haven't already, after that please try the rest of the recommended steps in the previous article we offered.

Actually, @Teeeenabeeee , reset/reprogramming might work for you if:

The MUTE and/or Power button aren't working to control your TV either.
