Unable to use AT&T U-Verse login for WatchESPN and other online applications

I tried to use my AT&T U-Verse login to access the WatchESPN app today, but I kept getting the error "We are sorry, but you are not authorized to access this web site.  Please verify you are authorized and re-enter your User ID and Password."

After getting this error, I downloaded the AT&T U-Verse app and tried to use my login there.  This did not work either.

I know that the User ID and Password that I'm using is correct, because I use the same one to log in to AT&T.com (to check my bill and such), so I'm not sure why it won't allow me to stream content.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks,

Noah

Hey there Noah,

I definitely understand wanting the availability to watch TV wherever you are. I can certainly help with this!

In order to use the U-Verse App, a compatible device is required (we have a list of compatible devices on this site) as well as a compatible U-Verse TV package (U200 or above).

If you meet all the requirements and are still experiencing issues, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance. Thank you for posting, and have a wonderful day.

I am having this same problem.  I just signed up for Uverse 200 service, and I get the "Not Authorized" message from Watch ESPN, History, or NatGeoTV - only ones I have tried to use with my account so far.  I have tried on multiple devices, including tablets and Amazon Fire Stick; I have removed the apps and reloaded; logged in with secondary log-ins; on my AT&T Internet, Personal Hotspot, and mobile networks - same exact result each time.  I can still log-in with my prior provider with no problem (have a few days left - unless I go back to them).

I have spent a few hours with tech support from AT&T, and was told today that the third party apps are experiencing problems, and short of got them to admit that they are blocking users from these third party apps so that users will use the AT&T Uverse app.  Can someone confirm that this is in fact what they are doing?  The AT&T website still states that users with U200 or higher can use these third party apps with their AT&T login.

Thanks.

Their system has been down since December 18th from what I can tell. They’ve been calling it a technical support issue and their customer service has been absolute crap. It’s getting to the point that they are outright lying and in breach of contract by not providing access to the content or the service that we pay for. I highly recommend people who are considering U-verse to look elsewhere. If it is not fixed by January 9th I’ll be canceling my contract and going elsewhere- for my TV, internet and mobile phone.
