U Verse App remote function not working

I have had this issue since October. The U Verse app for iphone works fine. The only issue I am having is when I try to pair it to a receiver, the app tells me "wireless gateway not found". My wireless receivers play TV just fine, so I know the signal is being emitted from the gateway and received by the receivers. Ive done all the usual steps: power cycle the modem/router, power cycle the gateway, power cycle the DVR unit, delete the app and reinstall it, tried it on 4 different iphones and an ipad. I did change a few setting on my modem/router to allow my Apple Airport Extreme to not run in bridge mode, but to run as the sole router on the network. I was tired of Double NAT error and an amber light blinking constantly. Any suggestions?

I believe the iphone must connect to the internet wi-fi network in the RG.

The wireless receiver network is transparent to this feature. It is just another connection off the RG.

When using the Apple Airport it must be part of the RG network(bridge mode?). Not its own network.

I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure what you are trying to say. My network has the following layout: AT&T Modem (wifi disabled), off of the modem I have the wireless gateway, and also the airport extreme.

If I understand what you are saying, you are telling me the airport extreme can't be it's own network. It shouldn't be it's own network. The modem and airport extreme are the same network. Airport extreme is just providing the wifi portion of the network. And no I'm not running it in bridge mode. I was encountering double NAT issues for weeks until I made a lot of changes

How about trying it without the Airport ext, just as a test?

Well, after completing a factory reset on my NVG589 and my airport extreme (leaving it in bridge mode) all functions of the remote in the app returned. Very odd and not sure what exactly was fixed by the reset but it worked.

I want to use my iPhone as a remote for my TV but it won't let me select the device to connect to. Both of my receivers are showing up, but it won't let me connect to either.

I'm having the same problem. I contacted AT&T U-verse support and they tried a few things and they told me this was beyond their scope. What the heck!?!

The remote feature is currently broken. Hoping they release an app update soon.

Hello.

RG stands for Residential Gateway. It is generally referred to the U-verse router which provides the service to the devices within the home.
