I posted about this also on or about September 30.  At first there were a lot of views but no replies.  Now the post has completely disappeared.  It is not in my subscriptions and I cannot find it in any forum.  I think I posted in an internet forum because the topic was about viewing in a browser on a desktop computer but I am not sure.  My post had a similar subject heading about "Streaming in the browser to end after October" in the banner across the Guide and I pointed out that the apps they suggested were all for devices I do not own.  I have only a desk top and a lap top.

I also noted that I chatted with someone in AT&T support who said it was the networks fault or something and AT&T was trying to resolve it.  AT&T seems to be saying that it was not their idea to take streaming through a browser away.  I was trying to get more info.  Not only did I not get more info but my question has been wiped out of all forums and I don't know why.  That has never happened before.

I don't understand why this topic isn't lighting up the forums!  Do that many people really watch their TV shows on a tiny hand-held screen?  I have an awesome set of headphones for my laptop and a high-end monitor.  The "TV experience" rivals most big screen TVs.  If this really is a "network thing", then by golly, what needs to be done to resolve the "network thing"?   I'm going to wander on over to Comcast and Verizon's websites to see if they still offer TV shows "in the browser".  I have no intention of watching U-verse TV on a hand-held device.

 The whole POINT of watching on my laptop hooked up to a high-def monitor is to watch in a room that does NOT have a TV.  I want to watch using the browser on my Windows laptop with my awesome headphones and on a large screen in my home office while my husband watches his shows in the family room on the TV - at the same time!  I don't want to wait for him to be done watching his shows and I sure don't want to be sent to the bedroom to watch back there.  

 

Folks like us use the browser-based U-verse for a reason - it is GREAT!

Absolutely agree! I've been streaming on my desktop for almost a year that I've had UVerse and seldom watch on television.  I doubt seriously it's a "network" issue as I also watch Amazon Prime exclusively on my desktop and it doesn't seem to be an "issue" for them.  I've been disappointed w/UVerse OnDemand anyway as their service does not near match what I experienced with Charter Communications and their effortless online streaming through the browser, and if browser streaming is indeed coming to an end, it will be time to return to Charter with their no hassle, less expensive service.

Well my Local cable company can do this. So I guess that is what I will be switching to.

 

"If you subscribe to (Local Cable) TV, you can live stream your entire channel lineups and (Local Cable) On Demand libraries on mobile devices or computers via the (Local Cable) Stream app and (Local Cable) Stream portal while connected to your in-home (Local Cable) network. While out of the home, you can still live stream portions of your channel lineup and (Local Cable) On Demand library."

 

This was one of the things that AT&T could have done better, but to get rid of it all together on PC/Mac is just unacceptable. I get that they are trying to PUSH people to Direct TV - I just will not be installing a Dish. So my only option is to switch Providers. AT&T was/is not perfect, but this is the just one more thing to drive me away from AT&T..

 

I can see why more and more people are just cutting the cord and doing without.

The best answer is to use each network's website.  You still are authorized as a U-verse TV subscriber to watch the same channels, they just won't be collected on one page for you any more.

If you must keep AT&T, get a slingbox. I have one that works for the purpose of PC streaming, as long as you have a uverse source box that is not otherwise occupied at home. Except for the buffering on AT&T sourced internet.

Most cell phones have a mirroring feature that will allow you to send what is on your cell phone to the TV.  Have you looked into that?

I pay for a premium fiber connection for uverse and have been please with speed and service.  It looks like one of the functions, streaming through the browser is going away.  If it does, it is a deal breaker for me and I will have to get my provider elsewhere.  Is anyone else disappointed by this decision by AT&T?

What kind of outrageously anti-customer decision is this AT&T? Whoever signed off on this should find a new career.

 

Based on this alone I'll have to begin shopping for a new internet and TV provider. You should take a look at my account because if I'm to believe the installation tech I'm one of the very first 1Gbps customers in the country and you're going to end up losing me.

 

I live in a one bedroom apartment with a TV in the living room and my desktop in my bedroom. This is how I watch TV in my room.

I for one do not want to watch tv on a small screen.  I prefer a larger screen.  I am very upset by ATT Uverse to eliminate this part of their offering.  I think the reason ATT is doing this is to eliminate a platform layer that they have to support and update.  That's a shame because ATT is a very larger company with virtually unlimited resources and some of the best developers and programmers in the business.  This is simple an escape from serving customers who want to watch programming on PCs/laptops versus a phone.

I am an AT&T customer, I have U-verse for TV, phone, and Internet, and AT&T Wireless for cell service. I use the U-verse app when I am out and about. I like that I can watch live and on demand shows from the U-verse app; however, the app is in no way as good as Uverse.com. When I am at home or in my office and I want to watch a show I use Uverse.com because it has a larger selection of shows available on demand. Will shows like Seal Team and The Good Place become available on demand in the U-verse app on November 1st? Because they are not available now. Uverse.com provides much more content than the app, and is more stable. I regularly has to reinstall the U-verse app because out of the blue I will bet authentication issues that even when you close the app and then open it back up and re-log in still will require a new installation.  

 

I only ask, if you are getting rid of Web Streaming, are you improving the app? Because getting rid of a reliable service and making people use an inferior service is just stupid..

Disappointing that Uverse is discontinuing streaming via browser.

I use Linux and Windows.  If there is no app for those OS's and if streaming via browser is disabled, I got nothing. 

I don't use, nor am I going to go out and buy an iOS device and I'm absolutely not interested in watching on any of the Android devices I own.  Screens too small.

Sad day.
