Smithsonian HD and Guide

I have U-450 with no premium HD.  I've been getting 1118 Smithsonian HD for months.  The problem is that it will not show up in my onscreen guide.  I can see 118 but not 1118.  However, it DOES show up in the Yahoo online guide; I even have it selected as a favorite there.  It also used to show up in the 'Channel Shortcuts' menu under 'News and Information' (which is how I discovered I had it), but I don't think it does anymore.  Besides I prefer to use my favorites list for everyday surfing.  I can tune the channel and set up recordings by using the PnP surfing feature, or I can schedule recordings through the Yahoo online guide.  While on 1118, if I hit the guide button, the guide starts on the nearest channel (Discovery HD I think).  A friend who lives about a half mile away had Uverse installed about a month ago, and his guide does show 1118.   What's the deal, and how do I get this fixed?

Even if you don't suscribe to a channel, you still should be able to see the listings in the guide.

Evidently I spoke too soon because, no, it doesn't.  I rebooted about an hour after I got off the phone with them and checked for the upgrade.  I had Palladia, HDNet Movies, and apparently RedZone, but my guide still skips 1118. As before, I can navigate directly to the channel by entering the number, it then works in the "last channel" toggle, and I can schedule recordings on Yahoo or by using the PnP feature, but it does not appear in the guide.

I'll give it a day or two and call back I guess.

Everything else seems to work that way, doesn't it?

Uhhhhhhhhh . . . . that would be too simple, wouldn't it?  So I went in there to check, and started scrolling through the channels and stopped when I saw Universal HD 1116 unchecked at the bottom of the screen.  I wanted to enable it too, so I moved the cursor down, and briefly glanced at my remote while I clicked to "check" it, but when I looked back up I saw the screen had jumped one more channel, and now 1118 Smithsonian was the last visible channel, it was highlighted, and had a check in it (UHD was still unchecked above it).  I only offer that long-winded narrative because I never actually saw the 1118 box without a check in it, but it appears you were right to keep slapping me because that was almost certainly the problem.  It now shows up as it should (as does Universal).  I remember going through and removing shopping channels and other things I knew I never wanted to see, but I don't remember cutting out these type channels, but then I forget a lot of things these days.  I apologize for generating a two page thread over a "problem" between my own ears and again thank all of you who helped.

I'm glad that was the problem.  From your description, it did sound like a case where the channel was hidden from being displayed in the Guide.
