I just got a new box that had gotten shipped out the other day and now every time I plug it in, it shows a red x and the number 3 under it, I don’t know what it means and I just want to be able to watch tv

Did you follow the instructions to set it up?
I assume you got it direct from AT&T. If not, it's a stolen box. Unless the boxes come from AT&T, they will not work.
Call 800-288-2020 and have them send out another one.
