NBC, WTHR, CBS - September Contract Negotiation
Why was NBC dropped from the channel lineup? This is a major network that I watch frequently. I am not happy about this change and don't remember receiving any notification of this change.

We want to get WTHR back into your local lineup as soon as possible. All Dispatch needs to do is grant its permission. att.com/fightingforyou

When is WTHR be back on ATT Uverse, VERY DISAPPOINTED WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS SERVICE AND NOT RECEIVING THE PROPER STATION LINEUPS. When the contract is up I'm for sure our service package price will go UP!

When will CBS be added back into the Uverse lineup? I am very disappointed and unhappy that a big company like AT&T could t work this out and I am paying and not able to watch regular shows!

Given that the station is probably asking for more money from AT&T than it was already getting, why would that surprise you?
Remember, the station is not paying AT&T for the privilege of having the channel aired on U-Verse; AT&T is paying the station for the privilege of airing the channel.

IS THE PROBLEM WITH CHANNEL 10 ( CBS ) BEING RESOLVED??? I HAVE BEEN WITH ATT FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS AND DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE CARRIERS, BUT I REALLY DON'T WANT TO MISS THE UPCOMING NEW SEASONS BEING SOON.

Where is your Channel 10, and what is the specific situation that caused Channel 10 to be unrestored? More information is needed.

Where is your Channel 10? This sounds like a contract dispute. No one on this forum can give you an answer since almost all of us are U-verse subscribers just like you. Call your Channel 10 CBS, and urge them to sign a new contract with AT&T. It sounds like Channel 10 is demanding too much money from AT&T.

You should call your local CBS channel and ask them why they are asking for too much money from AT&T. Urge them to sign a new contract because you miss your programs. No one on this forum can give you and answer when your channel will be back as almost all of us are U-verse providers just like you.

Plucked from a another forum post :
rant]
Every year these threads appear. And every year I keep wishing the carriers (cable companies and ATT) would hold their ground until the local's realize they are losing eyes for their advertising. People blame the carriers for their "geed" and not supplying "their channels" that "they are paying for".
First, they are not "your channels". ATT can do anything they want to the channel lineup as per these terms of service (8. INTERRUPTIONS, LIMITATIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS TO SERVICE). You are paying for a TV service, not specific individual channels.
Second in this case it's the locals who are the greedy ones here asking for ever more and more money every year for something most anyone can get for free with an antenna (assuming the locals are in range - check here). And then later everyone complains of their ever increasing bills when the one of the reasons for that increase is the "Broadcast TV Surcharge". So guess who's actually paying for the locals for their greed?
If the carriers stonewalled these locals maybe they would "blink" and put an end to this annual blackmail. But it never happens and it's just wishful thinking on my part. In reality the carriers and the locals eventually come to an "agreement" where the locals get less than they asked for (they probably asked for twice as much as they need anyhow if they truly need any more in the first place). We end paying for the bill. And it's always the carriers that are to blame. There's a lot to blame and greed to put on the carriers, but this annual negotiation crap is not one of them.
[end of rant]
While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.

Obviously, ATT customers can't know who is right and who is wrong in the dispute with WBNS. All we know is that the TV season starts in a few days and there's lots of stuff on CBS, so what are the real options for the crowd that never watches a show while it airs (if you did, you can use an antenna).
You can watch programs on CBS.COM and use a Chromecast to get them on your main TV. You have to wait until the next day and you have to live with commercials.
ROKU doesn't seem to work ever. It seems to require CBS all access.
How about CBS apps on IOS and Android. Are those an alternative?
Any alternative for College Football? Pro Football?
I had assumed AT&T would cave when the football season started, but I guess they are tired of passing along confiscatory fees and getting blamed for it while local stations get away with charging the fees and never face the wrath of the customer, but it didn't happen. It may never happen. Most Los Angeles Dodger fans in Los Angeles don't have access to Dodger games for going on 4 years now.
To be sure, this is MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) for both WBNS and AT&T, but in the meantime, what is your favorite method for watching CBS programming?

I always recommend having an antenna to insulate yourself from these yearly hassles with the local stations.
Since you asked about alternatives "for the crowd that never watches a show while it airs" there are such devices as over the air dvr's (you never qualified your question about price range
).
