Narrator is only on when watching USA Network

Turned on U-verse on fire stick this morning, put it on USA network for LaOSVU, and narrator is on unable to turn it off. Reset tv and fire stick, reinstalled app and it’s still on. Only this channel. When i switch to sling for the same show, no narrator. Any ideas?

This issue should now be resolved. If still having issues, close the app and relaunch it.

Try troubleshooting the AT&T U-verse app further by deleting the cache of your device as well as turning off any other apps that may be in use. Also, make sure this isn't being caused by an issue with the Firestick itself by reaching out to Amazon and seeing what they recommend.

Thank you. Reached out to Amazon and it’s not the fire stick. 
went ahead and reset it to factory anyway just be sure. Uninstalled the U-verse app, reinstalled it. Same thing is happening. So weird.

When you state it the narrator, are you referring to SAP settings?

Only happens on my TV.  Works fine on my other devices. SAP setting on my tv are not on.

  • When you try to turn off narrator does it show on or off?
  • Was this working properly before and you just recently started having this issue?

 

Here are the steps to turn the narrator on or off. Start by:

  1. Select settings from your device's home screen.
  2. Select general.
  3. Select accessibility.
  4. Select audio descriptions.
  5. set the toggle switch to off.

On tv, narrator is off. 
on fire stick, there’s not an option for it. 
everything was fine one day, woke up the next and it was happening. But only on the USA network channel, and only on fire stick. On my iPad it works fine. Sling tv works fine.

for some odd reason, descriptive audio is playing when I am watching shows through the uverse android app.  I changed zero settings when it happened.  I have tried clearing all app data and the problem persists. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the problem persists.  in fact after clearing data and uninstalling all of my favorites are retained.  how can I turn descriptive audio off?  the app is unusable as it stands now.

Funny, someone else posted the same issue on the FireOS app a few days ago.  Does it happen on a particular network or show, or all shows?

this does not work because android does not have a menu button. as for when it comes up, it is on usa. it doesn't look like it is on any other channels but it does come up on commercial that air on the news and nondramatic entertainment channels but there aren't many commercials that have it.

Yeah, I don't see anyway to turn it off either.

Hi, @Happyhourtx.

 

We recommend that you hold down the Back and Menu Buttons for two seconds on your Firestick remote.  You should hear VoiceView exiting when this feature is turned off.

hi, I'm having the same problem the only exception is that this is on an android tablet using android uverse app.  the above solutions do not work for me as:

a) I have no descriptive audio option in android settings and 

b) android no longer has a menu button.

When I do this, hold the buttons, it TURNS ON, voice view. Then I turn it off. Still happening. Only on the USA net work though. This is really frustrating. I’ve tried everything.

We understand that you're still having trouble @Happyhourtx.

 

When you change voice view settings is the Uverse app closed?

 

Use VoiceView or TalkBack

  • Use the remote to select Settings.
  • Select Accessibility, then VoiceView.
  • Turn VoiceView ON or OFF.
  • Open the AT&T TV app.

Please try doing so with the app closed then open the app after you change settings being that this is only happening on the Firestick.
