Internet drops

While watching uverse tv the internet continually drops and the box resets.   It is very frustrating not to be able to watch more than 5-10 minutes of tv before the box needs a reset.

Make sure you're not recording anything.

Unplug everything from outlets.

Plug your gateway (modem) back in and wait for the lights to stop blinking.

Plug your DVR back in.

Plug your other TV receivers back in.

If that doesn't work...here's another option:

Press the red button on the back of your gateway for several seconds until the lights start blinking.

WARNING: This will reset all custom wifi settings (such as WiFi name and password.) You'll have to reset these, if they were customized.

Do not do this if you're not sure of what you're doing.

If you do one (or both) and it's still broken, 800-288-2020 and mention technical support. Keep in mind that this is a customer-to-customer forum and very few AT&T employees read this. Some of these employees may not be specialized in U-Verse.

I would also suggest replacing your gateway and receivers before your DVR, if that's what needs to be done. Replacing your DVR will result in the loss of all saved shows. Scheduled shows will still remain scheduled. Replacing other boxes will result in having to re-hide channels.
