Not going to happen with out some sort of external equipment.  Part of getting the energy star seal from the government.  One member on here tried to use IR blasters and program a script via a computer to send something that would simulate a button push on the remote but I don't think they got very far or just gave up.

Some that wanted this were wanting to leave their TV on for their pet and just switched to a radio instead.

I Have had enough of att uverse sleep mode. If I did not want to watch tv I would turn the tv off myself not have att do it for me. I switched from directv to this I cant belive it. But I have the solution - today I am going back to Directv it is better and I never have had any problems with it. When I turn the tv on it stays on and does not turn off while watching a ball game or other type show. I would not ever recommend att uverse to anyone.

Wow.  I'm sorry that the receiver turning off after eight (8) hours--more than 2 complete football games--of no interaction (no pausing, no rewinding, no changing channels) is that big of a deal for you.

But since it was, I hope you enjoy your DirecTV service.

So if it's not solved then why is it marked as a Community Accpeted Solution?

I would think that ATT (Cisco) would like to eventually fix this, if it's an arbitrary time, let the user decide how long it should go without going to sleep the same way we can on our laptops and computers which are all Energy Star compliant too.

Looking forward to a fix for this one too, it really is annoying to have a box that knows better than you do, to shut off your video whenever it feels like it.

Yikes, sounds like Big Brother (NSA?) is probably watching our TVs more than we are?

Because it provides the information that the feature is not changeable.  People who read this will not have to ask again, because they will know that it isn't possible.

Did you ever consider that people like to have the television playing throughout the night while they sleep? No - you didn't {keep it courteous}

You get more than 8 hours sleep per night?  Lucky you....

Unfortunately this is one thing that folks ask a lot for but AT&T has turned into a deaf mute on this one.  I thought that I had a solution but *nooooo (*at this time Smiley Wink  ).  I had hoped to be able to use the Remote on the Android app, away from my home Wifi but nope - the remote feature only works at home.

IF I get real industrious, I could use a desktop / screen sharing app, on my home Windows 8 PC, remotely control my PC, fire up the Live TV app and see if I can remotely control the remote.  Lots of steps but it might work!

8 hours? How did you set that up. Mine turns off after a few hours.

So I'm guessing U-verse is like Apple.... They take all the user control away and assume what you want and what you need?

If yours turns off after a "few hours" (however long that is, who knows?), then you have defective equipment. I would recommend that you send a private message to the escalation team at AT&T Customer Care, and someone will get in touch with you.

Ordinarily it is designed to go into standby mode after 8 hours.   I did nothing to set that up.  8 Hours.

What if the box that keeps shutting off is the main box? Mine shuts off, and we loose all access to recorded content, as well as it stops recording anything.

The DVR is defective as it should work when turned 'off ' as long as the green link lite is lit on the DVR (can not be unplugged).

Contact ATT Uverse Care on the link in my signature.

Send them a private message, on this link, and they should be able to give the help needed to solve your Uverse service DVR problems. They are available M-F 8am-11pm Eastern time (also around on weekends), response may take up to 2 business days.

This is not the regular CS/TS phone people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done. I personally know as they've helped me on a DVR swap.

Include your account #, email address and a good phone # (land or cell) and time to contact you on.

Check the blue PM envelope, upper right on every page, for their reply. Good luck 😉

I use mine as an alarm clock and hate the sleep mode because most of the time, the TV is off when I wake up, totally defeating its purpose. It was the first thing I called AT&T about after I changed to their service. If I am lucky and had a short night, it is actually still on, only to turn off after 15 min and most often during the middle of some interesting news. It is not convenient at all. It should be an option to customize for the user!
