I'm sure this issue has been talked to death but I'll rehash it for my own sake. On Saturday I had service installed. It was set up using an HDMI cable I provided (Amazon cables AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable). My service ran smoothly until I turned my tv off for a short while, and the issues started after that. When I'd turn the tv and uverse receiver on my tv would display "no signal". After turning it off and on a few times I finally got picture with no audio problems. When I woke up Sunday and powered everything on I got nothing and my attempts to power on and off proved futile. I switched out the HDMI cable with a different but same exact cable and tried again, nothing. I changed the HDMI input on my tv, nothing. I ran HDMI out of my laptop and had no issues there so I know the cables and tv are fine. I reset the cable box, nothing. Using the googles I noticed many people have had this problem before. I went out and picked up component cables and everything is currently working. I'm currently renting two places so the tv I'm using now (Vizio E-Series 32" LED) won't be a permanent fixiture in the living room, so I'm ok running component for the time being. When I move everything in to the new place I'll have a 42" LG plasma, a PS3, a 7.1 Onkyo receiver and the uverse box. Everything will run through my receiver. I'd prefer to run all of that HDMI for visual appeal, organization as well as personal preference. I'm worried I won't be able to do that. I called ATT this morning and they said I HAD to buy a Monster HDMI cable for the uverse box to work with HDMI. Seems absolutely ridiculous to me and my general understanding of HDMI cables is that they're vastly the same cable despite the wide margin of prices. I've bought many cables from monoprice.com for my receiver, lg tv, ps3 and comcast cable box and have never had an issue. Again, seems absurd to have to buy an overpriced cable just to run HDMI from this box, seems like something they should provide if that's the only cable that consistently works. Anyways, has anyone had this problem and then had success using a Monster cable? The component cables are a fine work around for now, but I'm incredibly disappointed that that is ATT's solution to the problem. Any advice or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
