Service error loading hbo max on At&t tv device

Recently I have not been able to access HBO Max my AT&T TV device. It alternates between a service error - select OK - could not load app close app and retry - retry brings me to the service error. In the background you can faintly see the menu options on the left side of the screen. I have reset my device but no luck. The app cannot be deleted because it is preloaded. Contacted AT&T TV and they said it is an issue with the app. We have no problems on other devices and TV’s with the app.

Hi there, schrumbu! We understand that you are having a problem with the HBO Max app on your DirecTV Stream (formally AT&T TV) device. We can try to help you with that.

We have noticed that you have reset the device. There is one other way that we can try to resolve this and that is by doing a Factory Reset.  Please follow these steps:

Warning: This will remove the account settings and will require a complete redo of the set-up.

  1. There is a "red" button on the side of the device.
  2. Press and hold that for about 10 or more seconds.
  3. The device should reboot and start promoting you to re-setup the device.
  4. After completing the set-up again, try the HBO Max app again. Just follow the set-up or activation instructions the screen to reactivate the HBO Max app.

If these things do not work, then we do have our DirecTV Stream team standing by to help.  Also, you can make a posting on the DirecTV Stream forums page. Just click on the aforementioned link.

If there is anything else that we can do for you, please let us know.

Thank you for using the AT&T Community Forums.
